Chapter 4
Mason arrived in Los Angeles to call on a friend for help. He would have gone to Rachel’s door and broke it down if only to ask her why she left without telling him, but he didn’t remember her last name and she didn’t know his. He didn’t know she was a singer even though she told him several times. He had never heard of her because he never was into black music. His thing was One Direction, and Sam Smith, some rock bands, and maybe country and western on occasions.
On the island he called her baby or Rachel. He wasn’t concerned about what she did for a living. He wanted to marry her. She was driving him crazy with her smart mouth, beautiful sexy body, and independence.
He parked the rental car, jumped out, ran and jumped over hedges, and banged on the door of his friend, Chad. “Open up, I hear you in there.” Chad ambled lazily to the door dressed in his underwear and a tee shirt. Finally, he decided to open the door, but just a crack.
“Dude, I have a lady in here.” Mason heard a woman’s voice ask, ‘who is it, Chad?’ And he recognized it immediately, it was Carrie, Mason’s former fiancé.
Mason glared at Chad, “That’s no lady you have in there. Look man I came here because I have nowhere else to go. My father is sending me money tomorrow and giving me access to my inheritance my grandparents left me.” Chad stood for a moment trying to decide if he should believe Mason.
“I’m in love. But not with Carrie. Chad, you can have her, including her indiscretions. She couldn’t be faithful if her life depended on it. I’m in love with this beautiful black woman and I want to marry her.” Chad stepped aside and Mason walked in. He recognized the truth when he heard it. Mason’s face lit up when he said how much he loved Rachel, and Chad a longtime friend knew he meant it.
Chad followed behind Mason as he walked, then he flopped down in a brown leather chair. “Dude you look horrible, except for the tan. I would kill for that tan.” He gave Mason a small smile. “I heard you ditched your plane near an island in the Pacific, and that beautiful singer with the big gorgeous ass was on it, what’s her name,” Chad said snapping his fingers. “Rachel Morgan, that’s it. I would give anything to eat that pussy.” Mason’s eyes narrowed and his brow furrowed into three rows.
“Shut the fuck up, she’s my girl,” Mason said with a light in his eyes and a wide smile.
“No way Dude. In your dreams. She’s rich and she is marrying this black dude from the Bahamas. It’s in the news. Everyone will be there.”
“I have to find her before she leaves with that scumbag.”
“How in the hell are you going to pull that off. She lives in a gated community in Beverly Hills, and even if you find her, she may not be home.
